It is not a typo. I'm rebelling against the power of the niche, the allure of the niche, the profit of the niche. DOWN WITH THE NICHE! Why? Because the niche is a fallacy. It's a marketing strategy. It's existence, while undeniably important in the consumer world of social media, has led to the compartmentalization of people and life in general. It has reduced humanity to this or that, stripping away the complexities of being human that allow us to find common ground and view the world with an open mind. The world of the niche asks us, "in what box should I put it?" when we should be asking, "where does this intersect with my experience, and what do I have to offer and learn in its presence?"
I am, we are, more than one niche. When I started to explore "marketing" my writing, I was assailed on all sides with the "most important decision" of what niche I would write in. After lists and weeks and months of contemplation, my stomach churning at the prospect of narrowing the definition of me (because that's what my writing is-a reflection of me), I knew I could not reduce myself into a single, false image. So ER.rant IN.tersection is my revolt against the niche, my rebellion against the boxes of humanity, my attempt to bring together all the parts of me and show them as they were imperfectly intended to be. Welcome to my crazy.
