I'm attracted to the juxtaposition of seemingly unrelated moments. They intensify each other is unexpected ways. I find myself quietly smiling, or shaking my head, or stifling a laugh, unable to simply explain myself if asks. delicate is an example of this, a very small one.
delicate
I can't complete a day
without wounding myself-
banged shins, papercuts,
scraped
knuckles-
delicate,
saturday four a.m. drunk downtown
delicate,
sidewalk walking, turn an ankle
delicate,
fooled by foam, coffee burned
delicate,
front row fall asleep in lecture
delicate,
whisper in my ear, you love me, on a crowded bus
a casual salutation
delicate.
